Trading zone

The Creative Expo Taiwan (CET) will bring you the unprecedented immersion of culture and creation with the three joint exhibitions and lead the globes to see the Chinese exquisite lifestyle by performing culture in various angles. CET 2015 has more than 500 cultural and creative brands involved as well as the manufacturers and the buyers coming from more than 20 countries. The trading zone has set up in the three joint exhibition halls, The Huashan 1914 Creative Park, (craftworks and licensing), The Songshan Cultural & Creative Park, (design and creation) and The Taipei Expo Park-Expo Dome, (popularity and fashion).

Annual Theme

The Creative Expo Taiwan (CET) 2015 has three well-known curators to plan the three themes of the three great joint exhibition halls. The Huashan 1914 Creative Park values the origin of quality. Quality embodies in the local artificial works and the image licensing; the visual transmission reflects the innate character of culture. The Songshan Cultural & Creative Park contains all the charming creative designs, which come from the admiration to the nature, the embrace of the tradition, and the re-innovation to the life. The Taipei Expo Park-Expo Dome’s “Embodiment of Nature Elegance” is the imprint of fashion. As the time goes on, the flow of time represents the various forms of life as well as the speeding industry in the time that every seconds count. Throughout the experience of craftworks licensing, creative design and the diversity of fashion, CET shows the exquisite lifestyle of Chinese and Taiwan’s unique attitude to the Chinese fashion. Introduction to the Curators

Jun-Liang Chen

the Chief Curator of CET and the Curator of The Taipei Expo Park-Expo Dome exhibition hall

Jun-Liang Chen is the general manager of the FREEiMAGE Design, a PhD candidate in the Department of Cultural & Creative at National Taiwan University of Arts as well as an instructor at Fu Jen Catholic University and at National Taipei University of Education. Chen quitted his job as the graphic designer in the magazine in 1993 and established FREEiMAGE Design Co., Ltd, devoting to the graphic design. In 2002, Chen’s design “The wind from East” won the 15th Salon International de l’Affiche and he was the first person from Taiwan to win the award. Since then, his design style of minimalist has won many awards and won him the honor of The Poet of Design. In recent years, Chen has actively devoted to curating the cultural exhibitions in Taiwan, such as “Lost Memories” and “Fruitful Taiwan” in the Culture and Creative Expo, “The Face of Changing Phase” in R.O.C. Centennial Photography Exhibition, “Ingenuity Follows Nature” in Taipei World Design Expo 2011, “The Origins of Taiwan” in the National Museum of Prehistory, “Pure Taiwan” hosted by Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau, and “Taiwan Artisan” the special exhibition for the Taiwan Design Center’s 10th anniversary. He also served as a curator of the Taiwan Design Expo 2014.

Johnason Lo

the Curator of The Huashan 1914 Creative Park

Johnason Lo is the founder and Creative Director of JL Design. He created a unique visual language for Azio TV and won the PromaxBDA Asia Best On-Air Ident, Silver Award. With the international recognition, he was headhunted and worked in Singapore. In 2007, Johnason returned to Taiwan and established JL Design to further his career. His creations could be found in the international channels such as Disney Channel Taiwan, PTS HD, CCTV-9 Documentary channel, Al Jazeera, and HBO Asia. Johnason’s designs have since won the awards of international competitions and praise, for example, he was honored as “Next Creative Generation in Asia” by +81 Magazine, “The Channel Image Magician” by WIRED Magazine and one of the “Design Taiwan 100%” by La Vie Magazine. At the Golden Melody Awards 2014, Johnason was the visual production designer and he amazed the audience with world-class design credentials. In recent years, JL Design has transformed into a visual-special effects house, and the very first production of movie special effects was Café•Waiting•Love.

Lee Weilang

the Curator of The Songshan Cultural & Creative Park

Wei-Lang Lee is the creative director of the Afterain Design Studio as well as the host of the Dr. WOW Design Lab. As an instructor at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Lee is the guidance for students and teaches them to organize design exhibitions. Learning visual design in school, Lee Weilang let his design unlimited instead and has carved out a niche of his own in the world of product design. Classic creations are Tofu Cup, MoneyTree, and Zipper Cup, etc. In 2007, The Hong Kong ELLE Decoration International Design Magazine awarded Lee as Young Designer Talent. In 2008 established personal brand “LeeWeiLang”. He served as an exhibition curator in the Taipei Simple Life 2007, and moreover, the Taiwan Designers Joint Exhibition’s curator of “Wall” in 2008 as well as “Invsible” in 2010. In addition, Lee was the curator of International Craft Design Exhibition in 2011 and an art director of “Rain”.

Young Talents Award

Young Talents Award candidates, the talented designers of Asia with widely influence, will be nominated by the international media and associations jointly and invited to join the Creative Expo Taiwan. Voting for 10 candidates from each category, Design.Creation, Fashion.Accessories, and Crafts.Licensing, with total of 30 talents to incarnate the power of design and unique style of Asia.

Dorophy Tang, a product designer / an illustrator, was born and raised in Hong Kong. She got her diploma of Design Studies, Bachelor (Hons) Industrial Design and Master of Design Practices at the School of Design in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was strongly influenced with the multi-cultures of Hong Kong. The mixture of traditional Chinese blue and white porcelain arts, plus the modern western street style became her signatured style. She also famed with her Chinese chubby babies, “Shopping Babies” which are series of illustrations in traditional Chinese style influenced with pop culture. Dorophy has been collaborated with many famous international brands like adidas Originals, Epson, Nikon, Lomography, etc.
